  • Completed the understated services for various clients:
    • Regional exploration, prospecting target identification and reviews of potential prospecting targets for iron ore, aluminium, fluorspar, barite, alluvial gold, REE, coal, mineral sand, clay and sand deposits in South Africa, Swaziland and Mozambique.
    • Prospecting Right applications for fluorite, barite, REE, diamonds, dolomite, clay, sand, crushed silica and coal.
    • Mineral prospecting and/or management of prospecting work programmes for coal, uranium, alluvial sand, dolomite/marble, iron ore, manganese, copper, nickel, crushed silica and clay deposits. Appointed and managed project geologists, competent person, drilling contractors, surveyors and other specialists. Responsible for project data flow, QA/QC documentation, progress reports, cash flow and compilation of Competent Persons reports.
    • Intensive use of Gemcom Surpac Software for database creation and management, creation of geological block models, geostatistical evaluation, geochemical modelling (grade estimation) and quarry/ opencast mine design, mine scheduling and quarry development and rehabilitation planning to be able to estimate Mineral Resources and Mineral Reserves. Major projects completed includes:
      • Independent valuation on the mineral assets of the Lyttelton Dolomite  Centurion mine
      • Independent valuation on the silica mineral assets of  Infrasors Holdings Limited
      • Independent review of Kudumane Manganese Resource (Pty) Ltd feasibility study report on the minerals assets underlying the farm York 279, Hotazel, Northern Cape Province.
      • Annual preparation of mineral resource and mineral reserve statements for Infrasors Holdings Limited
      • Modelling, pit design and mine scheduling for Cape Diamond PLC (Cape Resources LLC), Elandslaagte Diamond Mine
      • Modelling of various limestone, dolomite, clay and quartzite deposits from historic data for the design of brown fields prospecting work programmes and estimation of historic mineral resources
    • Mining Right and Mining Permit applications for dolomite, crushed silica, coal, alluvial sand and clay
    • Successfully submitted Competent Person reports for both Lyttelton Dolomite (Pty) and Delf Silica for the listing of Infrasors as a mining company on the main board of the JSE
    • Management of surface mining contracts

  • Responsible for mineral resource management, mining and rehabilitation of 33 operating clay, sand and carbonaceous shale quarries in South Africa

  • Responsible for the evaluation and development or the Northern Pyroxenite Phosphate ore body including face mapping, infill drilling, core logging and sampling, computerized geological, geochemical (phosphate, copper and magnetite) and economic modelling using the Foskor ore reserve system, Surpac and Whittle software.
  • Initiated and completed the first computerized design of the Northern Pyroxenite Opencast Mine using Surpac and Whittle software to estimate NPV’s and IRR’s (internal rate of return), for different pit shells and variations of financial and technical input parameters to produce maximum value curves.
  • Short, medium and long term mine planning and scheduling to provide the flotation plant with the required ore from stockpiled ore acquired from the Phalaborwa Mining Company (PMC) or from the Northern Pyroxenite Mine.

  • As part of a team evaluated the marketing and global distribution system of rock phosphate and developed an improved management system and methods.
  • Worked, as part of a team, on the commissioning of the company’s new PSZ (partially stable zirconium) plant by conducting time studies, writing operating and management procedures.
  • Responsible for the compilation of the mine’s weekly production and sales reports for presentation at the Managing Director’s planning meetings held on Fridays with all Department Heads.
